Mark Hayden owns Breakfast at 12 and is responsible for everything that comes out of the “kitchen.” He also teaches advertising and copywriting at The Art Institute of Houston. Before founding Breakfast at 12, he was vice president of marketing at Farouk Systems, the parent company behind CHI and BIOSILK haircare brands. Prior to Farouk, he was vice president and chief communications officer with BrandExtract, a branding firm in Houston, TX.
Mark Hayden co-founded Parker:Hayden, Inc. which merged with BrandExtract in 2010. Previously, he rolled the dice (and, truth be told, lost) as an angel investor and director of marketing for eRealty.com, the first real estate company to integrate online access to MLS listings with real estate brokerage operations. Before, eRealty, he was a “slash” filling the director of strategic services and senior writer positions for The Adcetera Group. He held various positions with Sysco Corporation, including product information specialist and product manager. Mark was also a copywriter for Anderson Marketing in San Antonio and at Winius-Brandon Advertising in Houston.
He is currently a member of the National Professional Advisory Board of the College of Media and Communications at Texas Tech University and former program chair on the board of Houston chapter of the American Advertising Federation. He has held memberships with American Marketing Association, the MIT Enterprise Forum of Texas, the Public Relations Society of America, Houston Chapter and Only In Houston. He was a Charter Advisory Board Member of the national eMarketing Association and was an Entrepreneur in Residence with the groundbreaking Houston Technology Center.
Mark earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in advertising from Texas Tech University.
